Background

The Shea tree is a vital part of the Acholi sub-region's ecological and cultural heritage. However, due to economic hardships, many locals cut down these trees, threatening their existence. Secrets of Uganda, aims to support conservation efforts, partnering with a Community Based Organization (CBO) working closely with the Acholi cultural leadership.

Objectives

  1. Conservation Awareness: Raise awareness about the importance of Shea tree conservation among the Acholi community.
  2. Economic Empowerment: Provide sustainable economic alternatives to reduce dependency on cutting down Shea trees.
  3. Cultural Preservation: Reinforce the cultural significance of the Shea tree through educational programs and cultural events.
